What trends in handbags do you see continuing this season?

With the economy making many people nervous, I think that people in general will be making more practical choices in how they spend their money. And for women to satisfy their shopping cravings, they will be looking to buy more affordable handbags that are still fashionable - that means buying multi-function bags like totes, and roomy everyday bags that aren't too heavy. I think women are getting braver about wearing color and this is extending to their bags as well. Women can still have fun in a weak economy!

What styles of handbags should every woman own?

Women should have great looking choices for all the different times they need to carry bags, which is why I created Jane Marvel to be a "lifestyle brand." So for example, I think that every woman should have an "everyday" bag that not only makes them feel smart because their bag is functional, but that when you spy yourself in a reflective storefront you should love the way you look! Additionally, every woman should have great travel bags that are not only lightweight and fit everything, but that do it beautifully. A great cosmetic bag makes your life easier; ours has removable pieces for light or heavy travel, and hangs on the door for easy access.

Can you talk a little bit about the importance of eco-friendly and vegan fashions and accessories?

One of the amazing aspects of the "green" movement is how conscious everyone is starting to be about their own carbon footprint - that goes from food waste to energy waste and to fashion waste as well. I have a bag, for example, called the "shopper." I took a paper shopping bag, copied it's measurements and transformed it into a super stylish everyday shopping bag! Our hope is that people train themselves to seek alternatives to disposable paper and plastic products. Vegan products are wonderful because it gives women a choice to buy animal products or not. I'm happy that my line is Vegan - it makes them super easy to clean and durable as well.
