In fashion, we spend so much time discussing what's in. However it's just as important when shopping for accessories to realize what's out. Here are some accessory trends that were hot in 2008, but now they are so over.
Gladiator Sandals

Though I'm not quite sure if they are completely dead yet, I certainly hope so. In 2008, we saw gladiator sandals in every color, height and design imaginable. It was gladiator overload all spring and summer. This spring, step into flat ankle wrap sandals, jeweled thong sandals or anything else but gladiator sandals.
Too Much Jewelry

Pick one statement piece, whether it's a bold necklace, big cocktail ring or jeweled cuff, and keep the rest of your jewelry very minimal. In 2008, we saw many celebrities doing too much, such as Sarah Jessica Parker here.
Oversized Handbags

This is an accessory trend that isn't over but it should be. I'm definitely over it. If your handbag is so big and heavy that it weighs you down or overwhelms you body, go a little smaller. If you must have an oversized bag, choose a large, handheld tote bag rather than a shoulder bag. It's much easier to carry and won't cover up the rest of your look.
