"With my first encounter with metal, I fell instantly in love," says Natha. "It was as simple as that. I picked up my first torch and never set it down again. I studied metal and jewelry design at MSCD in Denver and now spend every spare moment in my studio designing, creating, learning and running Luscious Metals by Natha Perkins. I started LM on my kitchen table and now it has blossomed into a full time business venture as well as my passion and entertainment."I asked this up-and-coming jewelry designer about fashion trends, accessorizing with jewelry and more.
"Amazing and well made jewelry, unlike other accessories, has such longevity potential," she said. "Since it doesn't take up much room, it's an easy thing to collect and hold on to and wear again and again. I design my pieces to be little works of art that look just as pretty sitting in your jewelry box as they do resting on your body. So even if you don't wear it everyday for the rest of your life, it still gives you pleasure just to see it there."
We discussed trendy statement jewelry. Natha believes in more than a statement piece and rather a statement collection.
"It's not about a specific piece. I think every woman needs a little collection of jewelry that are absolute treasures to her. We all need a few pieces that brings back lovely memories of an era in our lives or remind us of that one time, or that one man. A piece that we can always put on to help us feel beautiful and confident."
"There aren't specific rules to accessorizing as far as I'm concerned," explains Natha. "I accessorize according to my mood or the weather. If you need help in the confidence department one day, pile on your most luscious accessories and let them give you a boost.
