Carolina Herrera Biography:

Born María Carolina Josefina Pacanins y Niño on January 8, 1939 in Caracas, Venezuela, Carolina Herrera is an internationally renowned designer who was born to much privilege. The daughter of a family that included politicians, statesmen and landowners, Herrera insists that despite becoming an international traveler who socialized with royalty, her mother instilled in her passion and discipline that have help her come as far as she has.

Carolina Herrera Fashions:

Herrera started her fashion line in 1981 after uprooting her family and moving to New York City. Starting with a test line that got her noticed, she soon expanded into suits and gowns that high-end boutiques and stores were lining up to carry.

Herrera has continued to expand her line of luxury products over the years to include perfume, cologne, wedding gowns, scarves, handbags and other accessories. She has also collaborated with daughter Carolina Adriana on her 212 Men's fragrance line of cologne and grooming products. Additionally, she has branched out with her own line of boutiques called CH Carolina Herrera.

Carolina Herrera Commercial Success:

Herrera's big break came when fashion icon Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis asked her to start providing her with clothes. She dressed Onassis for the last twelve years of her life, gaining other big name clients along the way who wanted to emulate Jackie O's legendary style.

Today, Herrera has dressed many famous faces for big events. Her client list includes Nicole Kidman, Shakira, Salma Hayek and especially Renee Zellweger, who even had Herrera design her wedding gown.
