Accessorize with Spring 2012's Hottest Trends

Monday April 23, 2012

While scarves are usually associated with fall and winter, you can easily rock one during the spring season. It all comes down to the material and design of the scarf. If you're looking to incorporate scarves into your spring wardrobe, keep an eye out for lightweight fabrics such as silk, cotton or chiffon. Prints that feature florals, stripes, polka dots, and vibrant colors are also appropriate for spring. This weekend's steal is a circle scarf by Anthropologie, the Twofold Lucia Loop. Made of silk and double sided, this gorgeous $40 used to be $78. You can wear it with an endless variety of solid colored blouses, shirts and dresses, letting the bright and fun style really stand out.

Tuesday April 17, 2012

In a world of leather handbags and embellished purses, this particular trend might come as a surprise to many. Lightweight fabric totes have become the new "it" bag, making them a trendy and affordable accessory. These types of bags are so easy to find, and often run for less than $20. Totes tend to be very roomy, and are really easy to store in your closet or carry around. While fabric tote bags don't have pockets, you'll be sure to fit all of your daily essentials in one simple tote. This trend is a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things are the most stylish.

Trendy Tuesday: Hair Fascinators

Tuesday April 10, 2012

This Tuesday's trend might be a surprising one. Fascinator hair clips inspired by costume fashion have been making their way into the fashion world as a chic and different way of accessorizing. You'll probably associate this type of clip with the royalty of England, especially after Princess Kate Middleton has been dubbed as a fashion icon. Luckily, you don't have to be royalty to rock this type look. You can start off with an accessory like this Cara Accessories 'Friday Night' Fascinator Hair Clip, available at Nordstrom for $48. Wear it with a trench coat, cape or peacoat for an outfit that is exceptionally sophisticated and different.

Weekend Steal: Betsey Johnson Straw Stretch Belt

Saturday April 7, 2012

One of my favorite ways to play up spring and summer dresses is by accessorizing with a belt. It's always fun to mix and match, especially with the endless variety of belts out there. I recently came across this mixed media belt by Betsey Johnson. This Straw Stretch Belt with Leather Belt is a great way to accent your favorite dress, adding a little dimension -- and a lot of style -- to your look. The combination of leather and straw also brings in an interesting touch, while the magenta material is bright and colorful. It used to be $38, but you can now purchase it for just $19.

Trendy Tuesday: Dainty Charm Necklaces

Wednesday April 4, 2012

I'm sure we can all agree that statement jewelry is something that will always have its place in fashion. Interestingly enough, one of the latest accessory trends is delicate necklaces with extra small, dainty charms. While I do love a good statement piece, I also adore the simple and chic look of this type of necklace. It has a very minimalistic look, which is great if you've already added multiple accessories to your outfit, but would still like to wear a necklace. It's also an ideal option for those who prefer simple, over the top jewelry that's still fashionable.

For a unique way to wear this type of necklace, pair it with multiple chain necklaces for a layered look. If you'd like to wear it alone, a scoop neck or v-neck shirt will show it off in a subtle yet stylish way.

Learn About Designer Tarina Tarantino

Sunday April 1, 2012

Known for her bright pink hair and colorful style, Tarina Tarantino is a jewelry designer that sure knows how to create one of a kind statement pieces. Her jewelry is often made up heavy duty plastic, vintage components, large pendants and rhinestones. I personally love accessories that speak for themselves, which is why I adore Tarina's designs. Some may say that she's even the queen of mixed media jewelry. This is no surprise, as she loved collage and altered art as a child. If you'd like to learn more about this unique designer, check out Tarina Tarantino's biography.

What Are Polarized Sunglasses?

Friday March 30, 2012

Sunglasses are an absolute must during the spring and summer seasons. If you're looking to buy a new pair, it would help to learn about the different types and shapes before purchasing some new shades. This will not only make sure that you get exactly what you're looking for, but that the specific type of sunglasses is right for you.

Some kinds, such as polarized sunglasses, can actually serve more than one purpose. Not only will they protect your eyes from the sun, but they are designed to reduce the reflective glare from the water. This is especially useful if you're planning on going fishing, kayaking or boat riding this spring and summer. To learn more, check out the glossary page on polarized sunglasses
